Zeemote controls servo motor - work in progress

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Just to give an idea.

Integration of Bluetooth and servo control code still to be finished.

DisplayLink USB LCD with Linux devices

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

The DisplayLink display also works with an NSLU2 (running Debian) and a beagleboard.

The beagleboard can use the binaries generated on the NSLU2.

External displays via USB

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Adding external displays via USB is a quite flexible option.

displaylink_usb_lcd_on_osx

Started with the original support on Win and OSX - but aim to use this on Linux with e.g. a beagleboard.

Bluetooth control - no PC involved

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

A Bluetooth enabled zeemote JS1 controls a servo - no PC involved - there’s just an ATmega8 micro controler coordinating things.

More experiments with I2C

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

I2C is an interface usable on multiple platforms - e.g. LEGO NXT, Arduino, PicAXE.

Using a standard connector new combinations can be tested quite easily.

A PIC18F2550 with an USB interface

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

The PIC18F2550 provides USB connectivity - and may bridge towards e.g. I2C or UART.

Supposed to be used for:

  • emulating HID devices and
  • interfacing a WiiMote IR camera with tracking capabilities

A Wii Nunchuk connected to an Arduino board via I2C

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Uses components that I already had.

Thanks to the community for speeding up things with ready to run code.

Some experiments with Arduino boards

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

I decided to do some experiments with Arduino components.

arduino_and_ethernet_shield

As usual - I was especially interested in the ones providing connectivity.

Due to the examples available - I got the whole setup operating very fast.

External Bluetooth keyboard working with the Android G1

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Video to come pretty soon.

A (foldable) Bluetooth keyboard used for typing on an Android G1. Works with all applications on the G1 that accept keyboard input.

Even though the G1 has a built-in QWERTY keyboard - this external option might be interesting for typing longer text while being e.g. in a train or at a cafe.

The setup uses the Linux Bluez Bluetooth stack and the uinput mechanism - both there on the Android device.

Zeemote JS1 controller and Android G1 connected via Bluetooth

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

The Zeemote JS1 is a Bluetooth peripheral that e.g. comes together with some recent Nokia phones. You may find it on ebay as well.

This short video shows interaction with an Android G1. You want to see multiple JS1 controlers connected - so you may play multi-player games on one device? Your first idea was "pong !"? You want to see the controler connected to other devices - that may even have TV out?

You will see all of this !

More to come!
