Video showing the Bluetooth keyboard and iPhone in use

An updated version of the “typing on the iPhone using a Bluetooth keyboard” video.

Both the keys and the display are in camera focus at the same time, iPhone is in Airplane Mode (so WLAN is intentionally off here) and it uses a simplified mechanism for key event injection (so there is no “VNC running on localhost” icon any longer).

The original posting with the old video was Apple wireless keyboard used with an iPhone

Any idea on when you’ll make this available to the unworthy masses? I’d love to start using this, it’s what I’ve been waiting for since I got my iPhone…

That looks great!! By the way I never had any doubt about the first video either.

It would be great to have this! Would totally eliminate the need to bring a laptop, in many cases. Finally a real way to type emails or to use SSH.

Question. By using a secondary bluetooth stack that means the apple stack has to be disabled. (You can’t have 2 drivers communicating with 1 piece of hardware) Is there anyway to combine this with the apple stack and run this in terminal to allow headsets and keyboards to connect? Personally I don’t care if I have to disable the apple stack or if I have to choose between my headset or my keyboard. Just a thought.

BTW - Awesome work! Can’t wait until the release.

Am I wrong in thinking that in airplane mode, Bluetooth is also turned off?

thanks for your hard work and dedication.

i think for me the most challenging part would be sifting through all the comments that either:

    1) demand you release whatever you’re in the middle of working on NOW and FOR FREE and while you’re at it, include a BLOW JOB for good measure…. good god, sometimes i think people forget that there are real human beings putting countless hours into tedious detailed tasks so that we can have these conveniences. i want to acknowledge my gratitude for your patience with these people. they are just seeing the world through a different set of lenses….

    or

    2) call you a faker… if there’s one thing that wastes more time than faking technological advances, it’s calling people out on faking technological advances when there’s clearly not enough information available to do so. wait maybe it’s complaining about these witch hunters….

    hmmmm…..

    i’d better end.

Haha, yes Jim Cobb, since your analysis of the above comments is something only you can do, I’m sure he’s glad he got to spend some time reading your two pointless paragraphs.

They were so much better than one short sentence “I love you, gimme gimme!”

Amazing work! Is it too keen that I just went out and bought one of those keyboards today? This will make emailing/blogging MUCH easier :)

Two things…when can we expect a release? And where can I find tv ‘donate’ buttion?! Thank you so much!

    I love you, gimme gimme!

Thank you for your dedication to this.

Does your solution allow quick keyboard input? So far we’ve just seen one finger typing…

I can’t wait for a solution for the masses is available and yes - I’d gladly pay serious money for this.

This is fantastic news. Is there any chance of getting a Bluetooth GPS mouse to work as well? AFAIK they use the serial bluetooth profile and just send cleartext (NMEA) data.

One of the goals would be of course to integrate a bluetooth GPS with the apps like the internal GPS of a iphone 3G.
